How to Avoid Plagiarism

  • Get a head start on your research, do not wait!
  • Read the resources carefully and keep notes
  • Read and understand the resources you find
    • If you aren't finding useful information, get help!
  • Keep track of all the resources you use
    • Helps organize them for the bibliography
  • Be a college-level writer
    • Use quotations around direct quotes (and cite them!)
    • Paraphrase others' words (and cite them!)
