About

Library Research Instruction (LRI) focuses on information literacy and competency for student success.

LRIs can be tailored to meet the needs of your class and can include specialized database instruction, guided library tours, evaluation of web resources, citation tips, and more. Reedley College Library faculty provide research instruction and support tailored to the needs of your students through several options provided on this guide.

Benefits

  • Librarian and instructor collaboration to provide supporting resources for information-rich assignments.
  • Librarians can provide research instruction tailored to your course topic and objectives.
  • Inviting librarians to your class removes barriers to receiving research help by connecting students directly to a librarian.
  • Research instruction helps your students clarify their topic and identify the types of information they need.
  • Lastly, research instruction saves you time!

FAQ

I have multiple classes and I want an LRI for all of them. May I put them all on one form?

  • The best practice is to submit one form for each class. This limits confusion and ensures the library has separate tickets for each request that librarians can pick up based on their availability.

May I request a specific librarian?

  • You may contact the librarian directly to inquire about availability before completing the form. However, please be advised that the librarian of interest may not be available during your requested time.

Library Research Assistance

Library Research Assistance

Library Research Assistance (LRA)

Encourage your students to make an appointment with a librarian! LRA appointments are great for:

  • Students who may have missed the live zoom instruction.
  • Students struggling with their research assignments or finding credible sources.
  • Faculty unable to schedule a live zoom instruction, but would like their students to meet individually with a librarian via zoom.
  • Extra credit or as an assignment.

Research Guides

Research guides aid students by directing them to appropriate resources for success in their coursework.

Course guides are curated by librarians with class research assignment goals in mind. Librarians collaborate with instructors to ensure students are reviewing the appropriate research resources as related to the class assignment(s).

Subject guides may cover general topics or disciplines that your class will be focusing on. These guides are not specific to a class or instructor. However, librarians are more than happy to collaborate with discipline faculty.

Would you like a course guide? Perhaps you'd like to suggest a subject guide? Please contact Allie Kenyon to inquire or request a course or subject guide.
